Two bills are scheduled to be heard in committee hearings today. Please review the below descriptions and contact your representative in support of this new legislation.
Senate Bill 1266 would improve the state firearms preemption law to ensure consistency in Arizona. It would allow that any local and unlawful regulations that are not consistent with state Firearm law could be declared null and void. It would also provide clear penalties for localities that willfully violate the state law.
House Bill 2446 would amend Arizona’s definition of prohibited weapons to be in line with the National Firearms Act (NFA). This would help Arizona citizens better understand what they can and can’t possess and remove potential hardships on people who move into Arizona in possession of a firearm that is legal by the national standards but illegal in Arizona.
